Team Press Release
The Alabama Renegades tried the slow the potent Chattanooga running attack, but was unable to do so in a 34-6 loss Saturday night.
Chattanooga came out running the ball strong and scored all their touchdowns with their running game. The Renegades were able to put some points on the board in the second quarter on a run by quarterback Nancy Byrd, but that was all the offense could convert on. Alabama had the ball deep in Locomotion territory two more times but turned the ball over with two fumbles.
Byrd led the Renegades in rushing, running ten times for 38 yards with one touchdown and one fumble. Running back Marty Alber had nine rushes for 30 yards with one fumble. Byrd completed 11 of 25 passes for 82 yards but had three interceptions. Tight end Sandra Kerby led the receivers with five catches for 28 yards and Alber had three catches for 19 yards.
Defensive tackle Dana Sanders, linebacker Stephanie Palmer and linebacker Link Green led the Alabama defense with nine total tackles each. Defensive end Tiffany Colbert, linebacker Bird Gholston, and safety Carmelesia Sullivan each racked up seven total tackles. Colbert had the only quarterback sack of the night dropping the Chattanooga quarterback for a 2 yard loss.
